Marion Hyndman Obituary

 We are saddened to announce the passing of our dear Sister in Christ Marion Hyndman.  She has been a part of our congregation for many years.  First as a young woman before she married Rev. John Hyndman and then again after they retired from the ministry and moved back home.  She will be missed for her amazing hugs, smiling face and love for the Lord and others.

HYNDMAN, Marion Alice (nee Hawdon)

Peacefully at her home on St. Joseph’s Island with two of her daughters and her husband by her side on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, Marion went to be with her Lord and Saviour in heaven in her 96th year.  Marion was born the seventh of ten children to William (Willie) and Ellen (Nellie) Hawdon (nee Simons) on her sister Rose’s 6th birthday September 27, 1921 on St. Joseph Island.  December 23, 1947 Marion married the love of her life, Rev. John Wesley Hyndman, and would have celebrated 70 years of marriage this December. Marion lived her life in service to the Lord and served alongside her husband as a Pastor’s wife for 45 years in Pulaski, Michigan, Thunder Bay and Dryden, Ontario. Marion leaves behind her beloved husband John, daughters Carolyn Marritt (Ivan), Barbara Hartson (Fred), Lorraine Tilson (Fred), Sharon Blanco (Leo) and son John E Hyndman (Linda), grandchildren Cynthia Lucier, Kathleen Tilson, Suella MacDonald, Kevin Tilson, Nicole Gordon, Daryl Hartson, Sharlene Whitman, Steven Tilson, Bonita Blanco, Daryn Hartson, James Marritt, Brenda Clubbe, Tammy Meltz, Andrew Hyndman, Brianna Hyndman, Matthew Hyndman and Daniel Hyndman plus 27 great- grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.  Also survived by one sister Julia McFadden and sister-in-law Merle Hawdon, sister in law Margaret Harris (John), brother in law Kenneth Hyndman (Roberta), brother in law Allan Hyndman (Vivian) plus many nieces and nephews.  Pre-deceased by her parents, siblings Margaret Bjornaa, Anne Young, Rose Gilbertson, Reginald Hawdon, Dorothy Campbell, Carl Hawdon, Maureen McIntyre and Edward Hawdon.  Friends are invited to visit at the St. Joseph Island Free Methodist Church (1589 Hilton Rd, St. Joseph Island, ON) on Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 10 am until time of the funeral service at 12 pm. Pastor Adrian Collins officiating. Interment Mountain Maple Grove Cemetery. The Lord is my strength, and my fortress, my deliverer, my God, my rock, I will trust in him. Psalm 18:2. In lieu of flowers the family requests any donations in Marion’s memory can be made to the St. Joseph Island Free Methodist Church, Far East Broadcasting, or Teen Challenge North.  The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Bellar and the staff at Matthews Hospital, nurses from Bayshore as well as all the care givers from Care Partners and Bayshore who took such great care of Marion.
