The same crowd that shouted “Hosanna!” in Matthew 21 was unknowingly quoting a song of sacrifice.
In Psalm 118:27, the psalmist calls us to “join in the festal procession up to the horns of the altar.” On the first Palm Sunday, the procession didn’t end at a palace—it ended at the Cross. Jesus didn’t come to conquer Rome; He came to conquer sin.
Today, we don’t just wave branches for a King; we surrender to the Savior who became the “rejected cornerstone” so that we could have a firm foundation (Psalm 118:22).
Are we welcoming the King we want, or the Savior we need?
