We are planning a baptism service on Sunday, August 23, 2026
Baptism is an important part of the life in the church.
Baptism is a visible way of identifying with Jesus through His death and resurrection. It is the outward expression of the inward reality that our sins have been washed away through faith in Christ.
Jesus expressed the significance of baptism by His personal example and by His teaching. Through the book of Acts, as people became followers of Jesus, they were baptized, publicly demonstrating their obedience to Jesus as Lord.
If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, and have not been baptized, please prayerfully consider being baptized at our August 23rd service.
Why Should I Be Baptized?
1. The Example of the Lord Jesus
Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented. As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” (Mat 3:13-17)
2. The Instruction of the Lord Jesus
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Mat 28:18-20)
3. The Teaching and Practice of the Early Church
Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.” When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.” (Acts 2:14a, 36-38a)
