Week 7: Objects in the Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear

Drawing on the account of Elisha and his servant in 2 Kings 6, this sermon reminds believers that God is never as distant as life’s circumstances make Him appear. Just as a convex side mirror distorts the apparent distance of objects behind a vehicle, the pressures, fears, and overwhelming odds of life distort our perception of God’s nearness. The sermon calls believers to pray for opened spiritual eyes, to trust in God’s omniscience and omnipresence, and to rest in the confidence that since God is for us, nothing arrayed against us can ultimately prevail. Faith is presented not as wishful hoping but as confident agreement with God’s already-present reality.
