Do volunteers need to agree with the church's beliefs?
Yes. Those serving in ministry are expected to support the beliefs, values, and mission of Island FMC and the Free Methodist Church in Canada.
Do I need a background check?
Anyone serving with children, youth, or vulnerable adults must complete our required screening process, including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
Do I have to commit to serving every week?
Not at all. Volunteer opportunities vary. Some roles involve a regular weekly commitment, while others may be once a month or only for special events.
What if my schedule changes?
That's okay! We understand that seasons of life change. If you need to step back or change your commitment, simply communicate with the ministry leader so we can work together to make adjustments.
Can I serve in more than one ministry?
Absolutely! You can serve in one area or explore several opportunities depending on your gifts, interests, and availability.
